Description
Textile and Fashion is a thriving industry in Ireland which has seen an annual growth rate of approximately 5% over the last 5 years and it is expected to continue to expand. This industry needs skilled professionals to work with textiles, metals and sustainable materials and this course can bridge this skills gap. The course will prioritise innovations and sustainability, aligning with trends in sustainable textile design as well as skills in knitting, sewing and mixed fibre 3D work to interpret design ideas. This course will generate ideas for wearable pieces such as brooches, bags, hair pieces and accessories to sell in local retail outlets & craft markets. Developing craft objects and working with community groups will form part of the learner experience. This course can also serve as a stepping stone for students interested in pursuing further education in Textiles, Fashion or related fields as well as making students adaptable for a raidly evolving industry.
